Badgers running back Chez Mellusi out for the season

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- No. 18 Wisconsin will be without its top running back for the rest of the season.

The announcement came via a zoom interview with reporters from Badgers Head Coach Paul Chryst.

Chez Mellusi suffered an apparent leg injury in the third quarter of Saturday's 52-3 win over Rutgers. The injury could force him to miss spring ball next year as well.

Mellusi, a transfer from Clemson, started all nine games and leads the Badgers with 815 rushing yards and also has 5 touchdowns. Freshman Braelon Allen is line to get his first start this Saturday, November 13th against Northwestern.

The Badgers have already lost two other top running backs entering the season. Isaac Guerendo is also out for the season with a knee injury and Jalen Berger was dismissed from the team and entered the transfer portal.
