Belgium: 41-year-old fatally struck by car while riding bicycle
BELGIUM, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 41-year-old Port Washington man was fatally struck by car while riding his bicycle near Jay Road and Sauk Trail Road around 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15.
According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office, the bicyclist has been identified as Nicholas Grosenick. Officials say he failed to stop for the stop sign at Jay Road and Sauk Trail Road.
A car, driven by 53-year-old Jeffrey Koopman of Cedar Grove, and struck Grosenick. Koopman was the sole occupant of the car
Grosenick died of his injuries at the scene. Koopman was uninjured.
Ozaukee County Sheriff's OFfice responded to the crash and Belgium Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office urges bikers to adhere to the rules of the road to insure the safety of all vehicles and people using the roadway.
