Winter weather advisory cancelled; snow reports rolling in
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- You may remember a wide-eyed and confused kitten after she was rescued from a sewer pipe on 73rd and Vienna.
CBS first told you about the 16-hour rescue mission that happened back in August. A neighbor heard "meows" coming from a pipe and alerted social media.
Turns out, at just four weeks old, the cat had been stuck in the pipe for about five days.
Hundreds of people on social media followed the cat's journey and appropriately named her, "Piper."
CBS 58 checked in with Chained Dogs MKE, the nonprofit that rescued her, to see how Piper is doing.
"Better than we expected," said Janelle Westbrook, Chained Dogs MKE. "When she perked up a bit, she looked really good; she was eating, drinking. The vet said she looked great, so we just kept her normal care feeding her, making sure she was going to the bathroom. She's thrived and done wonderfully."
Janelle Westbrook with Chained Dogs MKE says Piper is very playful and mischievous -- always trying to climb into things. She also says there's a list of people that want to adopt Piper, so she won't have any problem finding her forever home very soon.
