BROOKFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Newly released body cam video shows Brookfield police responding to a retail theft Friday, Feb. 6, that led to two arrests, a pursuit, and injuries to an officer and bystander.

Officers with the Town of Brookfield Police Department responded to the reported theft at Best Buy on Bluemound Road just after noon, according to the criminal complaint, and located the suspect vehicle in a shopping center lot near Bluemound and Executive Drive.

Officials say at that time, the driver backed into a City of Brookfield squad before getting out of the vehicle and being placed under arrest.

Police say while this happened, a second suspect-identified as 30-year-old Elenzo Harvester Jr.- got into the driver's seat and fled, ramming several bystanders' vehicles in the process. Officers pursued the suspect in a six-mile chase: eastbound on Bluemound Road, southbound on Moorland Road, then eastbound on I-94.

The pursuit ended near I-94 and Highway 100, according to police, when officers used a technique to force the vehicle to stop. After running from the vehicle, officers found Harvester hiding in the back of a tree service truck and took him into custody.

Police say a citizen injured by the fleeing suspect was treated and released at the scene. A City of Brookfield police officer was treated and released from an area hospital.

Harvester faces the following charges:

  • Felony retail theft
  • Vehicle operator flee/elude officer resulting in bodily harm, repeater (two counts)
  • Hit and run - injury, repeater (two counts)
  • First degree recklessly endangering safety, repeater (two counts)
  • Operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent, repeater

Court records show cash bond was set at $125,000. A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 16.
