FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Campbellsport man's bond was set at $100,000 cash after being charged with five counts of bestiality.

Thirty-four-year-old Steven Rosales made his initial appearance in the Fond du Lac County Circuit Court over Zoom, Wednesday morning.

"Thankfully a rare charge that we deal with," said Fond du Lac District Attorney Eric Toney.

In a separate case, Rosales was arrested back on April 5th. He was working as a school resource officer at Kewaskum high school at the time and was charged with sexual misconduct by a school staff or volunteer. Court documents allege he sent sexual text messages to a student.

“Through that investigation present charges before the court were found," said Toney, in court.

In the criminal complaint, law enforcement discovered text messages Rosales had sent someone in which he admits to having sex with his elderly dog. Court documents also claim he took photos of himself engaging in sexual acts with his dog and tried to send them to the same person. In court – Rosales’s attorney argued Rosales was not a flight risk and asked for bond to be set at $10,000.

"He’s an ex-cop. He knows that if he doesn’t appear, if he doesn’t apply with the conditions of his bond, this are not going to get better for him. They’re only going to go the other way," said defense attorney Conner Helvig.

Fond du Lac County Judge Tricia Walker disagreed, setting the bond ten times more than what Rosales’s attorney asked for.

"I do have concerns about return to court. Court will grant $100,000 cash bond," said Walker.

Rosales is prohibited from contact and possession of domesticated animals and livestock. He is also prohibited from having possession of pornography.

Rosales’s next court appearance will be May 31.
