Brewers fans book last-minute trips from Milwaukee to Tampa for Game 5 of World Series
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Tuesday night's World Series game made for a long night with a rough end for Milwaukee, but that didn't stop dedicated Brewers fans from catching early flights at Mitchell International Airport.
Some lucky folks are making their way to Florida on Wednesday, hoping to witness history at Game 5.
"Part of me was okay that they lost yesterday, because we weren't there," said Jan Niemczyka from Greenfield, who will be at Wednesday night's game.
"She's been so nervous, she wanted to be there where it happens, no matter where it happens," said her husband, Mike. The couple is flying from Milwaukee to Baltimore, where they'll connect to Tampa.
With no direct flights from Milwaukee to Tampa before the game, most fans flying out of Mitchell will rely on connections.
Some waited until the very last minute to buy tickets to Game 5, pulling an all-nighter to set their travel plans.
"Been waiting 44 years to see it. I've got to see one. You might not see another one, so. Just got to jump on and go," said Brennan Renner of Waterford, who decided to make the trip with his daughters just hours before their flight.
Fans hoping Tuesday night was just a bump in the road to victory, and that an unforgettable experience will be priceless.
"This is the year they're going to do it," said Mike Niemczyka. "Murphy's got everybody working, and it just feels like it, you know? You can just see."
