Brewers fans fly to Florida Tuesday in hopes to witness history

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — Milwaukee's Tampa Bay takeover continues Tuesday, Oct. 27 with a lot of fans making the trip to Florida for Game 4 of the World Series, and if needed, Game 5.

"We see how much the Brewers mean to like, our family and the community. It's just fun to be a part of and something we'll never forget," said Rochelle Coopman of De Pere, who will be at Game 4 with her family.

"I'm just excited to go and see them win," said her daughter, Mia Coopman.

Brewers fans proved Monday night at Tropicana Field, they're willing to travel to be a part of history.

"I think it'll be so cool seeing all of them stand up and just cheer at the very end," said Aubrey Coopman.

Many of the travelers at Mitchell International Airport on Tuesday morning were decked out in Brewers gear, regardless of their destination.

Direct flights from Milwaukee to Tampa were sparse on Tuesday, so most travelers relied on flights to other parts of Florida, or connections in Chicago, Atlanta, or Nashville.

Most bought their tickets last week, but others are making last-minute plans.

"I'm flying into Charlotte, I'm trying to connect to Tampa," said Matthew Degnan, who lives in Greenville, South Carolina.

He attended Games 1 and 2 in Milwaukee, and the watch party for Game 3 at American Family Field. Now, he's doing whatever he can to get down to Florida.

"If I can't get a flight, I guess I have to root for The Rays tonight and then try to get a rental car for tomorrow if I can't get a flight," he said.

That's why not all Brewers fans are completely psyched for a sweep.

Some are traveling to Tampa on Tuesday with tickets to Game 5 on Wednesday - but without tickets to Game 4.

"We're going to be slowly cheering for the Brewers," said Tom VanDenBogart and Dan Roepke from Slinger, who were planning to attend Game 5.

Of course, if the Brewers do win Tuesday, they will still be celebrating.

"It'll be good either way," said Roepke. "We love the Brewers. We're very happy that they're on the road to victory."
