Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski uses water-filled Tidal Tank in unique warmup

GRAFTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Brewers fans may have noticed rookie pitcher Jacob Misiorowski doing an unusual workout when he’s not on the mound.

Misiorowski, who threw a strong outing in the Oct. 6 playoff game against the Cubs, uses a piece of equipment called a Tidal Tank to warm up in the bullpen.

At Form and Fitness Health Club in Grafton, sports performance head coach Logan Hughes said the Tidal Tank is a clear cylinder filled with up to 50 pounds of water. He explained that the moving water forces users to focus on balance and control while lifting.

"The benefit of that is while the water moves, we have to be able to control that water, stabilize it, so our body’s not falling all over the place," Hughes said. "The benefit for the Brewers players is, say, for a pitcher, you have to be able to stabilize your body as you rotate back and then control your core as you come through."

Hughes added that the workout is not just limited to professional athletes, as everyday gym members can use the Tidal Tank to improve overall stability and core strength.
