Brian Gutekunst talks Love, Bakhtiari at the NFL Scouting Combine
GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Green Bay Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst took center stage Tuesday, Feb. 27 in Indianapolis at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Gutekunst praised quarterback Jordan Love saying, "I'm really proud of him. The work that he put in I think really, he was very much rewarded for all the work."
Gutekunst added that he was especially proud to see Love bounce back from a tougher stretch in October.
"To see him so steady through all that and just really lead our team to get better week in and week out and to see the rewards at the end of the season I was very excited for him and our football team," Gutekunst said. "For as good as he played, there's so much more in front of him. I'm excited for him and where he's going."
The Packers and Love have not worked out a contract extension yet, but Gutekunst said he's sure he'll see Love's agents during the week.
As for All-Pro offensive tackle David Bakhtiari, the GM won't tip his hand, but says a decision will come "pretty soon." If the injured left tackle is still on the roster in mid-March his full salary would count against the Packers salary cap even if they were to trade or release him.
Gutekunst and the rest of the Packers front office will spend most of the week in Indianapolis watching most of the top college prospects at the NFL Scouting Combine. The Packers have five picks in the top 100 of the upcoming draft.
