Can you dig it? We Energies accepting applications for next 'ambassadog'

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- We Energies is accepting nominations for the next "ambassadog" to help promote safety messages. Customers can submit photos of their dogs digging or in favorite digging spots on the company’s website until Tuesday, July 16 at 11:59 p.m.

Finalists will be selected by We Energies before opening voting to customers. The chosen dog will be featured as a star of the company's safe digging awareness campaign throughout the year.

The campaign's purpose is to remind customers to be sure to know the location of underground utilities to stay safe when digging, be it for a garden, a fence or any other digging.

When announcing the contest, We Energies also reminded the public of some of the digging tips that will be promoted by the campaign, including the fact that calling 811 at least three days before digging is required by law to mark the location of underground utilities.
