MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- For almost two weeks, we've been watching the lines at hometown polling places. Today, drivers lined up and waited for hours at American Family Field for their copy of the We Energies Cookie Book.
"We had customers out here since 6 a.m. this morning and the event started at 9," said Amy Jahns, We Energies spokesperson.
We Energies gave away the traditional book of cookie recipes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. The company that lights and heats your homes has been doing this since 1928. Last year, they handed out 220,000 of those books.
There are 37 cookie recipes this year, picked from 400 recipes submitted by bakers across the state.
This year's book is also a little different. The theme is "childhood memories."
"Along with the recipes that our cookie book submitters submitted, they also submitted stories. So, we see a lot of those stories where it says y'know, I remember when I was baking with my grandmother for the first time or with my mother for the first time. So, these books really capture that memory and that tradition this year," Jahns.
There will be more cookie book distribution events throughout the state in the month of November. The recipes are also available on the We Energies website.
