CBS 58 Hometowns: Antiquing in Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Finding new life in what once belonged to others is one of the highlights of shopping in the Milwaukee area, as antique shopping not only offers an opportunity to find hidden vintage gems when treasure hunting in antique shops, but it also offers artisans an avenue to sell furniture and home decor that has been restored to its original glory, ready to make its debut in a new home.
CBS 58's Amanda Porterfield visited two popular locations across both sides of those spectrums during the special 58 Hometowns feature about antiquing, set to air on the CBS 58 News on Tuesday, March 19 and Thursday, March 21.
To take a peek into Milwaukee's antiquing scene, we were joined by Claire Koenig, senior director of communications and public affairs with VISIT Milwaukee, on Tuesday, March 19.
In addition to shopping for vintage gems, one Bristol restaurant pays homage to one antique shop favorite: 45 rpm vinyl records.
In case you're wondering why the Bristol 45 Diner has its name, look no further than where it's located. It's on U.S. 45 in Kenosha County.
The diner celebrates the once-popular 45 rpm vinyl records. Just one step inside, and you'll feel rather nostalgic. The fact there's a breakfast menu all day long doesn't hurt either.
As this establishment opened in 2008, it hosts popular spring and summer classic car shows right next to the diner, weather permitting, the first and third Monday of each month, as well as the fifth Monday depending on the calendar.
