CBS 58 visits 2 festive, holiday themed pop-ups in Cedarburg

CEDARBURG, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Cedarburg in December is like a Hallmark movie or a Christmas card. With lights in business windows, a gingerbread house that offers visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus and festive restaurants and bars.  If you're looking for a place to enjoy some holiday spirits, there are two festive pop-ups within a block of each other on Washington Ave.

Rumor has it that Mrs. Claus likes to frequent Union House. So, all month long, it's changed its name to Tinsel and Tapas. The small plates are designed with traditional winter flavors like cranberry brie and stuffing meatballs.

"The whole restaurant is decorated. We had almost 15 of our staff members here decorating for an entire day to bring almost 2,000 bows to our bow wall and to bring almost 10,000 lights on the ceiling," said Union House co-owner Chris Homayouni. "All of the drinks are named after Christmas jingles that you know and love."

The famous Kuhefuss House is not usually a place you can sit down and have a drink.

"Unless you’re having a private party here, Christmas is the only time people are able to come into the house," said Sue Schrader.

This month, it's been transformed into the Tipsy Elf with magical drinks, a wall of Cedarburg's Christmas history and a record room that looks like a traditional Wisconsin living room.

The Tipsy Elf is a fundraiser for the Cedarburg Cultural Center. It's open Thursday through Sunday now until Dec. 27.

Tinsel and Tapas is open daily through Dec. 29.
