MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee turns into the city of festivals during the summer months. The Milwaukee Art Museum couldn't miss the opportunity to bring more than 100 artists to the lakefront for a juried arts fair.

The Lakefront Festival of Art takes place Friday, June 14 through Sunday, June 16.

But first, the Milwaukee Art Museum will host a FREE day on Thursday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The theme is FREEDOM, in honor of Juneteenth and Pride month.

"Throughout the day, we have something for everyone. We have art making, we have yoga, we have sound bowls, we have a special lecture in the evening featuring African American artist Sam Gilliam and his draped canvas in our collection, which is sort of a monumental, stunning piece of artwork that many people are familiar with," said Amy Kirschke, the senior director of learning and engagement at the Milwaukee Art Museum.

The Milwaukee Art Museum is celebrating Summerfest with an event focusing on musical art. You can find all of the upcoming events happening here.

The museum also has weekly drop-in tours on Saturday and Sunday.
