Choral Arts Society to perform 'The Cry: A Requiem for the Lost Child' in Racine
RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Choral Arts Society of Southeastern Wisconsin is preparing to present "The Cry: A Requiem for the Lost Child," a composition by British Contemporary composer Adrian Snell.
Designed as an act of remembrance, Snell created The Cry in collaboration with author Murray Watts to shed light on the experiences of children affected by violence, war and ethnic cleansing.
The show will take place Saturday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Ave. in Racine.
A press release from CAS notes that the performance aims to pay tribute to civilian victims of the war in Ukraine and kicks off the organization's 37th season, integrating authentic words from children who have lived through conflict within its Requiem structure.
Artwork of Ukrainian children will also be a part of the program, alongside a performance by American solo violinist Rebecca Engstrom. Prairie School Choir students, under the direction of Fletcher Paulson, will also contribute by reading wartime texts.
Tickets for the event are priced at $25 for adults and seniors and $10 for students. Advance tickets can be purchased at Personal Touch by Julie Florist in Racine, located at 5445 Spring St., or online at by clicking here.
