NOW: Cold weather advisory issued for Saturday and Sunday as the coldest air of the season arrives
NEXT:

The coldest air of the season is on the way! We've stayed chilly most of this December so far and that doesn't change for the weekend with highs on Friday staying in the 20s then highs on Saturday could stay in the single digits for the first time in almost 300 days since February. Sunday isn't much better in the teens but then we steadily warm with a ten degree jump in temps from Sunday to Monday, Monday to Tuesday and even Tuesday to Wednesday if we added another day to this 5-day.

The wind speeds won't be too bad for Friday with a west wind from 5-15 mph. The wind will pick up for Saturday and Sunday out of the northwest from 10-20 mph. That breeze will continue to bring in the cold air but also push wind chills to some dangerous levels.

A cold weather advisory has been issued for most of southeast Wisconsin for ALL of Saturday through Sunday morning. The official timing is midnight Friday night through 10 AM on Sunday. Our southern tier of counties (Walworth, Racine, Kenosha) have also been added to the advisory for the round of cold Saturday night into Sunday.

Wind chills within the advisory area could get down to about -20 Saturday morning with even lakeside areas seeing wind chills to -15. Wind chills during the day on Saturday won't get much better than -15.

The wind chills drop again heading into Sunday morning. With morning lows Sunday around zero wind chills could get as cold as -25 to -20. Afternoon highs on Sunday will stay in the teens with daytime wind chills around -10. Another Cold Weather Advisory is likely for Sunday morning and could even be a borderline Extreme Cold Warning which is usually issued when wind chills drop to -30 or colder.

Wind chills will stay below-zero through Monday morning and then eventually start to warm above-zero by midday Monday. Then a nice warm up is on the way. Download the CBS 58 Weather app to track the warmer temps and see if there are any snow chances the next week.
