MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police are investigating a shooting that left a 21-year-old man seriously injured Tuesday, June 7. 

It happened around 4 p.m. at Vel R. Phillips and North Avenue. 

Authorities say two people were involved in a vehicle collision when one of the drivers fired shots at the other driver. 

The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment and the suspect, a 26-year-old Milwaukee man, fled on foot. Police say he was apprehended in the area.

Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office in the upcoming days.
