Complaint: 2 charged in death of West Bend woman planned to steal drugs
FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Criminal charges have been filed against two people accused in the death of 33-year-old Ashley Calo of West Bend.
Twenty-one-year-old Dawson Miller is charged with felony murder and harboring or aiding a felon. Annaka Trudell, 20, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide. Both face an additional charge of conspiracy to commit armed robbery with use of force.
A criminal complaint alleges Trudell stabbed Calo as a result of a drug deal that went awry. It says earlier in the day on Feb. 13, Trudell and Miller made a plan to steal drugs from the victim by pretending to want to buy them.
They allegedly planned for Trudell to go alone and take a knife along for her protection. The complaint says when Trudell returned to Miller shortly after stabbing Calo, Miller helped her flee the Fond Du Lac area and avoid detection.
Prosecutors say Miller was out on bond at the time of this incident, after being arrested and charged with multiple drug-related charges.
Court records show Miller was previously convicted of battery, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.
Both have preliminary hearings set for March 8.
