Complaint: 3 charged in fatal shooting of 18-year-old in Milwaukee alley

Devrion Steward - Wisconsin Court System

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Three people are facing charges in connection with the Sept. 26 killing of 18-year-old Bryan Jamison in a Milwaukee alley.

According to criminal complaints filed Thursday, Oct. 2 and Wednesday, Oct. 15, investigators say 24-year-old Devrion Steward drove a white Chevy Traverse carrying Jamison, his twin brother and several others to the 38th and Keefe.

The group allegedly planned to rob Jamison of a handgun he owned.

Surveillance video described in the complaints shows Jamison in the alley with two suspects, both dressed in black. Within seconds, the men appear to open fire, and Jamison is seen returning gunfire before collapsing.

Police say Steward later told detectives that the group had pretended they were meeting a drug dealer, but the real plan was to steal Jamison’s gun. The two suspects, who have been identified as 18-year-old Charles Steward Jr. and 18-year-old Damarius Twitty-Montgomery, then reportedly ran back to the Traverse.

Jamison was pronounced dead at a hospital at 3:30 p.m. from multiple gunshot wounds.

Devrion Steward is charged with felony murder and armed robbery as a party to a crime. Charles Steward and Twitty-Montgomery each face first-degree reckless homicide and attempted armed robbery.
