Previewing upcoming events in Racine County
It was a cooler and somewhat humid day on Wednesday, especially lakeside where temps only warmed into the upper 60s. It was Milwaukee's second day in a row with highs in the 60s, and we'll tally up another day in the 60 today.
A cold front is working its way in from the north and will pass through mid morning. Temps will rise into the upper 60s lakeside before the front arrives, then drop into the low 60s this afternoon. Areas we'll inland could rebound into the low 70s this afternoon depending on how much sun mixes with the clouds and how thick the wildfire smoke will be.
Wildfire smoke has been reaching the ground at times overnight and will continue to do so away from the lake under the cold front moves through. An Air Quality Alert remains in effect for all counties away from the lake until noon today. Wildfire smoke will be more elevated in the sky this afternoon.
Temps go on a slow warming trend after today, reaching the mid 70s to low 80s this weekend. Wind will either be from the northeast or east throughout the next week, so coolest temps will be found lakeside.
Overall, dry weather will continue for the next week with no good chance of rainfall. The Weather Prediction Center's precipitation outlook for the next 7 days shows no rainfall over a good portion of the state.
