Crew of 8 rescued after Kenosha County Fire boat aiding in search for missing diver takes on water

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Kenosha officials say a crew of eight was rescued from a boat assisting in efforts to locate the diver that went missing in Lake Michigan. 

Around 2:30 p.m. Sept. 10, the Kenosha County Fire & Rescue Association's dive rescue boat began taking on water. It happened about four miles from shore and two miles from the SS Wisconsin wreck site, where authorities were searching for the missing man. 

Officials say the crew transmitted a distress message over the radio and other boats immediately responded to assist the crew. All eight members, along with most of their equipment, was rescued before the boat sank roughly 65 feet to the bottom of Lake Michigan. 

Kenosha County Fire says they're working with the DNR to safely retrieve the boat from the lake.
