MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Fire Department was called to the scene of a 3-story building fire near N. MLK Jr. Dr. and E. Wright St. around 4:30 a.m., Friday morning, Dec. 6.
According to MFD, crews found heavy fire on the first floor, which extended into the second and third floor. The building collapsed in the front and on the sides shortly after crews knocked down the fire. A second 2-story building was compromised as a result.
There were no injuries.
Authorities said Friday's weather made fighting the large fire more difficult.
“When you start to get a little acceleration in the wind speeds that definitely causes fire to grow, causes smoke to hamper your situation and cause problems with your companies on the scene, but due to the good positioning of our companies and using their proper apparatus... everything worked out well," said Deputy Chief Todd VanRoo, Milwaukee Fire Department.
MFD is investigating the cause of the fire.
