CUDAHY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- We're hearing more from Cudahy police about a tactical situation where they deployed an armored vehicle overnight.

One 36-year-old Cudahy man is in custody.

Near Kirkwood and Somars is where that 36-year-old man was found by a homeowner in their attic just before 9 a.m. Monday morning.

Police say they're investigating his connection to other strange events they responded to late Sunday night.

"The call was of glass breaking and a subject jumping from house to house, from rooftop to rooftop," said Cudahy Police Chief Thomas Poellot.

He says when they got that call just before 10 p.m. Sunday night, they didn't know what they were getting into when responding near Carpenter and Kirkwood.

"We were approaching the area when they heard gunshots rang out, they sought cover," said Chief Poellot.

That's when an armored vehicle was called to the scene.

Eventually, officers investigated the broken glass and man jumping from rooftop to rooftop.

"We were able to secure the residence that we expected the event started in, and we were unable to locate any physical evidence of a crime at that time," said Chief Poellot.

The strange string of events wasn't over.

"[It wasn't] until approximately 8:59 a.m. Monday morning that a homeowner identified somebody in his attic," said Chief Poellot.

That's when they found the 36-year-old with a broken leg, narcotics on him, and a stolen gun from Milwaukee found near his person.

Police say the man lived at a residence near the original call, was on parole for hit-and-runs and worse.

"Homicide by dangerous weapon or explosive," added Chief Poellot.

Now, with the 36-year-old in custody, police are trying to figure out how these events might be connected.

"We don't believe there's continued danger to the community," said Chief Poellot.

Police say if you know anything else about what happened, give them a call to help them with their investigation.
