MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- After hundreds of complaints, dozens of lawsuits, and a looming bankruptcy, troubled home improvement company Window Select is no longer being operated by its original owner. Now, CBS 58 is speaking to a member of the current leadership team for the first time.

Rob Braiman, President of Cogent Analytics, says when his company first got involved with Window Select, it was just as a consultant. But this past December, Cogent officially took over operations.

"The only reason why we're still involved, Cogent and the group of investors, is because of the customers," said Braiman.

Braiman says Cogent genuinely wants to help the many impacted customers get what they paid for and now Cogent is focused on restructuring the company through Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

"Window Select is installing windows and doors every single week. We are trying to calm the concerns of the customers and make sure people are being taken care of," he said.

The bankruptcy is currently pending in court.

"I'd like to believe today that we are very close to both getting into the bankruptcy process and having a negotiation with the courts," said Braiman.

For customers who still want their orders, Braiman says they're doing everything to make that happen but for those hoping for refunds, that's a more challenging ask.

"What we're hoping in bankruptcy protection is that any dollars that can be shifted back to the customer are shifted back but I can assure you there's really nothing left in Window Select other than we and a group of investors that are trying to do that right thing," said Braiman.

CBS 58 also spoke to a Kenosha customer who says she got her windows installed Friday after waiting for months. She says she had a challenging experience with the company until Cogent took over.

There are many other customers CBS 58 has been in contact with who are still waiting for their orders or hoping for refund. Cogent says they will continue to do everything they can to help as many customers as possible.  Eventually, the goal is to restructure the company with new leadership and a new name following the bankruptcy. Those plans are not yet final.
