Customers show support for Oscar's Frozen Custard at other locations after devasting fire
WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Oscar’s Frozen Custard is seeing a bit more business than usual after a massive fire burned down its Brookfield location.
There are some places that need no introduction. A place where the food and the crowd are a pillar in this community.
“It’s one of my go-to lunch places. I have many fond memories for a number of years just walking across the street. Just the nicest people too. They treated everybody right,” said customer Jack Kamoski.
Oscar’s Frozen Custard in Brookfield was one of them.
“Well, actually my stepson and his girlfriend worked at the Waukesha. And he was in charge of making up all the special mixes and shakes and that,” said customer Brian Felda.
After a fire early Tuesday morning, that all changed. Oscar’s owner Susie Taylor told CBS 58 Oscar’s is currently working on getting their employees from the Brookfield location employed at their West Allis and Franklin locations.
“Stunned. I was amazed because we go there,” said Felda. “It’s down to nothing.”
Taylor says that the building is now considered a total loss, but losses like this one brings a community together.
“I was like 'oh, wow, it’s really busy' and I was like 'probably because of the fire in Waukesha,'” said customer Emily Eineichner.
Customers say they came to Oscar's other locations to show their support.
“You get behind places like this here. That’s what neighborhood’s all about,” said Felda.
So that Oscar’s will always remain a part of this community.
“These are the kind of businesses you want to see keep going,” said Kamoski.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
