MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Producer, writer and director Susan Marcinkus joined us on Wednesday, Oct. 18 to preview the screening of "A Home in the Heartland: Czechs in Chicago," which also discussing the opportunity for Milwaukeeans to learn more about Czech and Slovak heritage at the Milwaukee CGSI Conference.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Film producers Susan Marcinkus and Laurence Jacobs are set to present their documentary "A Home in the Heartland: Czechs in Chicago" at the upcoming 19th Czechoslovak Genealogical Society International Conference.
The conference celebrates the history and culture of Czech and Slovak lands and is scheduled to take place from Oct. 17-21. The film delves into the experiences of Czech immigrants in the Midwest, chronicling their history and personal stories over nearly two centuries.
It has previously aired on PBS and examines the contributions of pioneering Czech women, Jews, labor activists, among others.
The CGSI Conference Double Feature Film Festival will showcase the documentary, along with a film titled "Pictures from the Old Country" on Oct. 18. The event, taking place from 7 to 9:30 p.m., is open to the general public and will be held at the Ingleside Hotel in Pewaukee.
