MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — A Milwaukee man was sentenced to 11 years in prison and 4 years of extended supervision on Monday for his 2-year-old daughter’s death.
Authorities say in 2016, Darrell Woodson Jr. and his partner, Margarita Balderas, gave their toddler oxycodone or what the couple referred to as “chill pills” to help her settle down or sleep. The child died from complications from the drug.
Before his sentence was read, Woodson Jr. addressed the court.
“I know I failed terribly as a father, losing my precious princess, my only girl, my daughter, my child,” he said. “The pain of losing my child, my daughter, my only girl is unbearable.”
Balderas was sentenced in November to 10 years in prison.
