MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Three people were cited after they were pulled over for riding Bird scooters on I-94 near 20th Street.

The trio told deputies that they were from Texas and were using their GPS to go to the Harley Davidson Museum.

Jen Cintron was driving to West Allis to meet a client and was held up by traffic. Cintron thought it may have been an accident, but when she looked over she saw deputies had pulled over the three people with electric scooters.

“The cops are like talking to them and grabbing their backpacks, and I saw three scooters on there and I was like scooters?! Did they really get on the freeway with scooters?" said Cintron.

Deputies escorted them off I-94 near 25th street. All three of them were cited and fined more than $200 each.

On Tuesday, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office released dash camera video showing a deputy carrying one of the Bird scooters away and putting it into the back of the squad car.

"One would think that people would have a little common sense but I guess that common sense isn’t as common these days," said Cintron.
