MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee has been the go-to place for Republicans this week with delegates and the former President Donald Trump in town for the Republican National Convention.
Now, Democrats are making their presence known in the city too.
Members of the Democratic National Convention met at the Railway exchange building to push back on the Republican agenda at the convention and Trump's Vice President Choice.
Senator Cory Booker and President of the AFL-CIO Liz Shuler were two Democrats who spoke at the DNC press conference in Milwaukee on Tuesday, July 16.
They expressed the importance of voting democrat for key issues like healthcare, jobs and unions.
Ben Wikler, the chairman of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin says Trump choosing JD Vance as VP sent a clear message to Wisconsin voters:
"The issue of JD Vance was personal to a lot of Wisconsinites, because Wisconsin is a state where Donald Trump's threat to democracy has never faded. We came within one vote of our state supreme court overturning the presidential election in 2020, and after jobs fell for 451 days Wisconsinites could not access abortion care in our state."
The Democratic National Convention takes place in Chicago this August.
