MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Goddard School has recommended books designed to teach children skills ranging from self-management to social awareness, bridging the gap between home and school for the back-to-school transition.

Lee Scott, Chair of the Educational Advisory Board at The Goddard School, joined us on Wednesday, Aug. 16 to discuss easing the back-to-school transition for families and children. These recommendations come in honor of National Read a Book Day, set for Sept. 6.

The recommended titles include "Llama Llama Misses Mama" by Anna Dewdney; "Who? A Celebration of Babies" by Robie H. Harris; "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds; "Quiet Loud" by Leslie Patricelli; "You Get What You Get" by Julie Gassman and illustrated by Sarah Horne and "How Do Dinosaurs Play with Their Friends?" by Jane Yolen.
