MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Perimenopause is a phase many women experience, often without realizing it, with symptoms including irregular periods, hot flashes, sleep trouble, mood changes and shifts in intimacy.
Dr. Mia Cowan, founder and medical director of Mibella Wellness Center, joined us on Monday, Jan. 26 to discuss perimenopause.
Cowan explained what perimenopause is and how it differs from menopause. She discussed how early perimenopause can begin and the first signs women most often experience.
She also talked about treatment options available today that women might not realize exist, providing advice for starting the conversation with a healthcare provider for those who recognize the symptoms.
