1 dead after officer involved shooting in Oshkosh, DOJ investigates

OSHKOSH, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) is investigating a fatal officer involved shooting in Oshkosh. 

It happened near 10th and Iowa around 11:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11. 

City of Oshkosh officers received a call for a stabbing at that location. According to authorities, upon arrival, officers located a stabbing victim. Officers entered the residence and encountered the subject with a weapon.  Police say the subject was told to drop the weapon but would not comply. One officer discharged their firearm and struck the subject. 

While officers performed lifesaving measures, a second stabbing victim was located. Both stabbing victims and the subject were transported to a local hospital, but the subject was pronounced dead. 

Involved officers are on administrative leave, per policy. The DOJ says the officers were wearing body cameras during the incident. 

The Division of Criminal Investigation and the Department of Justice is investigating the incident.  The DOJ says all law enforcement are fully cooperating with the investigation.
