MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It's been a beautiful day Friday, June 12, the kind of day that makes some people want to get out on the water, maybe in a boat?

Milwaukee has lots of places to go boating and for those of you who don't have experience on boats, a non-profit group called All Hands Boatworks is inviting people to a free "small boat experience."

It's a Lakeshore State Park near the Summerfest grounds.

You come down and they'll set you up in one of their small boats to get a taste of life on the water. The boats they use are built by Milwaukee youth and the whole idea is to interest more people in boating.

"Ten to 12 foot rowing boats, 14-16 foot sailboats, so again it's just a great area for some safe; enjoyable on the water activity," said Bill Nimke with All Hands Boatworks.

CBS 58 spoke with Daniel Clifford who says he went out on a rowboat with his sister and his dad and had a good time even though they had to fight the wind a bit.

"Get some vitamin d out in the sun. And have a lot of fun and just have a good experience," said small boater Daniel Clifford.

The small boat experience is offered again tomorrow from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
