Downtown Milwaukee's first ever dog park is here after ten years 🐶
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- After years of work and planning, downtown Milwaukee has a brand-new feature.
A ribbon cutting this afternoon marking the opening of the neighborhood's first ever dog park.
The project came to life as a combined effort between private companies and the City of Milwaukee.
It wasn't an easy task.
In all, it took around ten years to finally get the gates open.
The people who made it happen say it's a huge quality of life improvement not only for people, but for their pets.
"A lot of residents had to leave town before this to actually an off-leash park," said Third Ward Business Improvement District Executive Director Paul Schwartz. "That no longer has to happen for the downtown residents of Milwaukee. This is going to be the social hub of connectivity between people and their pets."
If you're a dog owner looking to check out the new space. It'll be open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. near the intersection of Clybourn and Plankinton.
But a heads up! You'll need a pass to get in.
