Drawings underway for Potawatomi's 'Heart of Canal Street' signature giving program
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Tuesday is the day hometown charitable organizations look forward to every year -- the drawing for Potawatomi's Heart of Canal Street event.
This is the 30th year for the Potawatomi Casino Hotel's signature giving program.
The name comes, of course, from the casino's location on Canal Street.
CBS 58 stopped by Tuesday as the finale for the fundraising campaign began. Tonight, we'll learn how much the casino raised for charity, and in a random drawing, we will learn which charities will benefit.
The drawing promises to be suspenseful.
"Almost 200 charities have applied, 162 made the criteria to be here tonight. And we're gonna be picking 30 random charities to win," said Sarah Neubauer, senior PR specialist, Heart of Canal.
Newbauer would not reveal how much money Potawatomi raised this year, but she did tell us that it's more than half a million dollars.
The drawing has already begun. We'll have more information on how much money was handed out later tonight.
