Elon Musk announces Green Bay visit ahead of Supreme Court election

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Elon Musk, in a post on "X" Friday, said he plans to appear in Wisconsin Sunday, March 30, to give a talk to those who have signed a petition "in opposition to activist judges."
On Friday evening, Musk announced his visit will be to Green Bay.
He also stated he would distribute two checks for $1 million each during the event, and the recipients would be "spokesmen" for the petition.
In his original post, Musk wrote that his Sunday event would be limited to individuals who have already voted in the state’s Supreme Court election. He later deleted that post, and shared the following:
Elon Musk's super PAC already says it's given $1 million to a Green Bay man.
In a video posted to "X" Friday, the man- identified as Scott Ainsworth of Green Bay- was named a recipient for signing the petition in opposition to activist judges. In a video, he voiced his support for Judge Brad Schimel.
Judge Susan Crawford’s campaign responded Friday, March 28, in a statement opposing Musk's visit. Campaign spokesman Derrick Honeyman accused Musk of trying to influence the election and criticized Schimel’s record on abortion and sexual assault investigations.
"This visit is just a last-minute desperate distraction as voters are turned off by Schimel wanting to ban abortion and his failure to test rape kits. Wisconsinites don’t want a billionaire like Musk telling them who to vote for, and on Tuesday, voters should reject Musk’s lackey Brad Schimel," the statement said.
Musk has ignored warnings about his money giveaways. During the 2024 presidential election, the Justice Department said it may violate federal law. Musk and his allies have poured about $20 million into the state's Supreme Court election so far.
The state Supreme Court election will be held Tuesday, April 1.
