MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- NourishMKE will host its Empty Bowls fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 5 at the Kern Center on the Milwaukee School of Engineering campus. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Attendees can buy a handcrafted bowl for $30, which includes two soup sample tickets. More samples will be available for $2. Soups from restaurants including The Bartolotta Restaurants, Cafe Corazon, Glorioso’s and The Soup Market will be included.
The event will also include pottery demonstrations, live music and beverages.
Valerie MacMillan, executive director of NourishMKE Community Food Centers, joined us on Thursday, Oct. 2. She said proceeds from Empty Bowls support the organization’s mission of distributing more than 1 million pounds of food annually to 50,000 people across Milwaukee.
Admission is free, and all funds raised will benefit families facing food insecurity.
