MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department is identifying the 1-year-old victim as Quamyiia Z. Owens. 

Police say a 31-year-old woman, who is a relative of Owens, was taken into custody on preliminary charges of child neglect. 

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiners Office has confirmed  that 1-year-old girl died this morning at Children’s Hospital. 

The girl was being treated for injuries she suffered in a house fire Saturday night. Initial reports stated that an infant had died.  

The autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Milwaukee Fire Department officials said there were five other people inside the home at the time of the fire and that no one else was injured.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A young child has died as the result of a house fire on Milwaukee’s north  side.  According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, an infant has succumbed to the injuries it received in a house fire at N 28th St and W Meinecke Avenue around 9:45 PM Saturday night.   Fire Department officials said the infant was rescued by firefighters under extreme conditions.   The child was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, but according to authorities, it did not survive its injuries.   The circumstances surrounding the cause of the fire are still under investigation.
