Feeding America receives massive milk donation

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A local food bank got a big donation on Wednesday, July 24 to help feed families in our hometowns.

More than 38,000 shelf-stable milks arrived at Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

Kemps Dairy, Pick n' Save and Metro Market partnered up to make it happen.

Milk is one of the most requested items for Feeding America, but since most milk expires so quickly, it's rarely donated. This donation can last up to a year without refrigeration.

"It feels really good, you know, once again as we look at it from an organization, giving back to the community is important. Certainly the community gives back to us and this is our way to give back to them," said Keith Zuehlke, sales director with Kemps Dairy.

The donation is just a portion of what Kemps is giving back this year. They'll be donating more than 195,000 shelf-stable milks to food banks in Wisconsin.
