Final weekend of Summerfest kicks off; extended free-admission hours announced for Saturday

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The third and final weekend of Summerfest starts today, Thursday, Sept. 16. 

The Big Gig announced extended free-admission hours, from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept 18., for Fan Appreciation Day and the final day of the festival. 

The first 30,000 fans to enter through any gate during Fan Appreciation Day, will also receive a ticket valid for admission to Summerfest 2022, which will again take place over three weekends. 

Kicking off Summerfest Megan Thee Stallion will perform at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater Thursday, Sept. 16. 

Other headliners coming to Summerfest this weekend include Miley Cyrus and Guns N' Roses. 

Remember if you're going to Summerfest, you'll need proof of your COVID vaccination or negative COVID test within the last three days. 

Vaccine proof can be a physical copy or a picture on your phone. 

Summerfest officials will have a rapid test option at the entrance for $25
