Fire damages vacant Milwaukee home Tuesday morning

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A fire damaged a vacant Milwaukee home early Tuesday morning, according to the Milwaukee Fire Department.

Officials tell CBS 58 that MFD responded to the report of a structure fire near the corner of near 27th and Walnut at 1:42 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12. Upon arrival, they found a one-and-a-half-story vacant home with flames visible from the front of the first floor.

The department laid two lines inside the structure and began searches, conducting three searches but finding no occupants.

No injuries to firefighters were reported.

We Energies and the Milwaukee Police Department were contacted to assist, and the fire was called under control at 2:16 a.m.

The Milwaukee Police Department and the Fire Investigation Unit are investigating the cause of the fire.
