First falcon egg of the season spotted at Oak Creek Power Plant

OAK CREEK, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A peregrine falcon nesting box at the We Energies Oak Creek Power Plant now holds the first egg of the 2025 nesting season, as confirmed by We Energies on Monday, March 24.
We Energies monitors several nest boxes across its facilities.
The egg’s parents, falcons Essity and Joel, are nesting together for the first time. We Energies said the pair will take turns incubating the egg and that additional eggs may appear in the coming days.
Since the early 1990s, We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service have recorded 453 peregrine falcons hatched at their facilities. The utility estimates that number accounts for 20% of all peregrine falcons born in Wisconsin since recovery efforts began.
