MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A joyous, festive musical is set to take the stage in Milwaukee this holiday season. First Stage is preparing to present "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical" at the Marcus Performing Arts Center's Todd Wehr Theater.
This holiday production is returning after its run in 2018 and will run from Nov. 24 through Christmas Eve.
The play tells the tale of the Herdman siblings, known as the worst kids in history, who unexpectedly participate in a church's annual Christmas pageant. Chaos ensues as the unruly Herdmans clash with the traditional pageant format, leading to a journey that aims to deliver some laughs while also uncovering the true meaning of Christmas.
It will be directed and choreographed by First Stage alum Molly Rhode. In a press release, Rhode shared her enthusiasm. "The energy is infectious. The young people drive the show, and they are the stars. It's a privilege to see these young people grow and thrive."
Tickets for the musical start at $20 and are available at the Marcus Center Box Office, by phone or online.
Special performances include a Pay What You Choose night on Nov. 30 at 7 p.m., a Sensory Friendly Performance on Dec. 9 at 3:30 p.m. and a Grandparent Holiday Brunch on Dec. 10, followed by an ASL Interpreted Performance on Dec. 17 at 3:30 p.m.
