Six tornadoes confirmed so far from Saturday evening's severe storms

The National Weather Service has been busy surveying damage left behind by Saturday's tornadoes. While their damage surveys aren't complete yet, they have confirmed six tornadoes in southern Wisconsin so far: 1 Ef-0 tornado in Grant County, 4 EF-1 tornadoes in Jefferson and Walworth counties, and 1 EF-2 tornado in Janesville with 115 mph winds.

Two EF-1 tornadoes tracked through Jefferson county. The first tornado began near Marshall in Dane county and tracked to rural southern Waterloo. This tornado had maximum winds of 110 mph, was on the ground for 5 miles, and was three football fields wide. The second EF-1 tornado occurred 5 miles west of Watertown, touching down near the intersection of County Roads Q and T. Significant damage occurred at a farm along West Rd. The Watertown tornado had peak winds of 105 mph and was 150 yards wide.

The National Weather Service also confirmed two EF-1 tornadoes in Walworth county that were on the ground at the exact same time. The first tornado developed on the north side of Delavan Lake and tracked through Williams Bay before lifting over Geneva Lake. This tornado caused significant damage to roofs of several homes in Williams Bay. This tornado had peak winds of 105 mph, was on the round for 6 miles, and was 150 yards wide. 

The second tornado formed east of the Abbey Springs Golf Course and tracked over Geneva Lake before lifting near Lake Como. This tornado mainly caused widespread tree damage but some severe damage to a dock was documented on the north end of Geneva
Lake near Elgin Club Dr. Planks from the dock were thrown about 500 yards to the northeast from it's location with canopy material found scattered throughout the tree tops. This tornado had 100mph winds and was on the ground for over 5 miles.

Additional damage surveys will continue Monday and beyond if necessary, including near Argyle where a tornado likely touched down. These are the three main areas the National Weather Service is doing their damage surveys.

These five confirmed tornadoes brings Wisconsin's 2024 tornado count to 32.
