Fond du Lac man pleads no contest in fentanyl overdose case
FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Adrian Santiago-Hernandez pleaded no contest and was found guilty of first-degree reckless homicide, as a party to a crime and repeater, following an Aug. 14, 2023 fentanyl overdose in Fond du Lac.
District Attorney Eric Toney announced the plea on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
Santiago-Hernandez’s bond was revoked, and a status conference is set for Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025.
According to the criminal complaint detailing Santiago-Hernandez's charges, Fond du Lac police were dispatched to a home after reports of a suspected overdose. Emergency responders found a woman unresponsive, and she was pronounced dead later that evening.
The medical examiner determined her death was caused by toxicity from fentanyl, cocaine and other substances.
According to the complaint, Santiago-Hernandez admitted to arranging a drug purchase with the victim on the day of her death. He told investigators he connected her with co-defendant Larry Plummer, identified as a known drug dealer.
Plummer is scheduled for a status conference on Thursday, Dec. 19.
