Former worker at Helping Hands group home charged with abusing resident

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A former worker at the Helping Hands group home in Milwaukee is now charged for an incident in July.

Forty-seven-year-old Avery Davis is charged with intentional abuse of a patient causing bodily harm -- a felony.

He has since been fired from the home.

CBS 58 first showed the video of the apparent attack.

According to the criminal complaint, Davis admitted to hitting the resident, but called it unintentional.

Neighbors have told us they've been calling police for years about incidents at Helping Hands.

Local leaders will meet with neighbors Monday night to answer their questions.
