MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Poppy Bakery has been Amy Gorski's dream for years.

"Tarted cherry hand pies, those are always really fun. We’ll do a burnt honey raspberry bread pudding," said Gorski.

"Just trying to put the fruit on the menu in the best possible way to make it shine."

She could spend all day in here kitchen on Ivanhoe on Milwaukee's east side, and for the last few Saturdays and Sundays, she has. That's because Poppy Bakery is now open. Every weekend, she fills the shelves with her newest treat she's dreamed up using local and seasonal ingredients.

"So, June we do a lot of things with rhubarb. Strawberries are on their way in, so we’ll kind of celebrate that, and as we move to July and August, we’ll do stone fruit -- peaches plums things like that," said Gorski.

This week, Poppy Bakery will be open Friday through Sunday for the first time. You can stop in 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to see what's on the menu.
