MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Family and friends of a Milwaukee alderman who died earlier this week spent Friday remembering him. A funeral was held for Jonathan Brostoff Friday morning, Nov. 8.
A service was held at UW-Milwaukee. Governor Tony Evers has ordered U.S. and Wisconsin flags to be lowered to half-staff Friday in memory of Brostoff, whose death is being investigated as a suicide.
Among others, County Executive David Crowley reflected on the legacy Ald. Brostoff leaves his community.
"Jonathan taught us strength and vulnerability. In his honor, let's commit to caring for ourselves and each other," Crowley said. "To honor Jonathan's legacy is to honor that strength, that honesty, and that deep care for one another. Let us be real with each other, open our hearts, ask for help when we need it and offer it without hesitation."
