MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The iconic G. Groppi's Food Market in Milwaukee's Bay View neighborhood is getting new ownership after the holidays. The current owners said the essence of the store will live on.
G. Groppi's has been a staple in Bay View for over 100 years. That's the reason current owner Anne Finch-Nehring and her husband John were extra picky when it came to choosing the next owner of the store after their 20-year reign.
"It was really important to us to keep the feel of Groppi's and the history of Groppi's was very important, but it was also important to take it to the next generation," said Finch-Nehring.
The Nehrings entrusted the Foltz brothers with the responsibility of up keeping the essence of the store as the new owners.
"We're excited, I mean we like the history of the store," said Casey Foltz.
Foltz said they're no strangers to the store. Foltz said his brother, Ryan, worked as a meat manager at Groppi's years ago.
"That's kind of the importance of passing it to Casey and Ryan, is that they understand the importance of keeping it Groppi's," said Finch- Nehring.
The transfer of store ownership will happen after the holidays. The Nehrings will remain the property owners.
