MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- German Fest returns to Milwaukee's lakefront this weekend with all the Bavarian favorites: steins, pretzels, brats and live entertainment.

Plus, one of this year's newest additions is the inaugural Pink Energy Run/Walk, benefiting the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Showhouse.

More than 500 runners and walkers are expected to take part, with a kids race at 7:10 p.m. and the main run beginning at 7:30 p.m. Organizers say registration is still open until Friday evening leading up to the event.

Participants will run through Veterans Park before returning to German Fest to celebrate opening night, which features the festival's opening ceremony, traditional dancing and other entertainment.
